When we decided on a relaxing driving break in France, the beautiful scenery of the Loire made it our first choice. Our stay in Angers was lovely, visiting the Chateau and of course the Cointreau museum! We’re currently staying in a converted chateau not far from Saumur that provides the perfect base for exploring the less familiar areas of the region, away from the banks of the great river. And of course we’ve been wine tasting at some of the many vineyards in the area.

A historic Chateau in the Loire region, now a stunning Relais et Chateaux country hotel. Set in rolling farm lands in a wine region makes it the perfect base to set off on a wine tasting tour, or simply to take in the beauty of the Loire countryside. Nearby are Chinon, Poitiers and Tours waiting to be discovered. The Chateau has its own baker, a local farmer supplies produce for the kitchens and the surrounding vines mean that the cellars are always well stocked. Special tasting evenings are put on during the season. Ideal for a romantic break.
